Visits to Your Home

Initial Meeting

The initial meeting to get acquainted with you and your pet(s) takes about an hour and gives your pet(s) time to become familiar with us, our scents, our voices. We complete information forms and service contract detailing your pet’s care, medical and behavioral history, likes and dislikes, favorite sleeping places, favorite hiding places, house care, vet, emergency contact specifics, and pick up your house key. Cost is $20 for this initial meeting. It’s a lot of paperwork, but pets can’t talk.

Visits are individualized to your pet(s)’ specific needs. Feeding, water, medications, insulin injections, exercise, walking, playing, brushing, box cleaning, rain-phobic pets, thunder-phobic pets, toys and activities, cuddles and petting, talking, etc. We work to form a bond with your pet so he/she develops a sense of trust and security while you’re away. We also bring in the mail, newspapers and packages, water plants, curb garbage and recycling bins, rotate interior and exterior lights, and open/close blinds to make your house appear occupied.

Cost is determined by the number of pets and the amount of time needed to care for your pet(s). Most visits are $20.00 for 30 minutes.

For pets needing Monday-Friday daily potty breaks or exercise walks, visits are usually $20.00 and you can reserve a time slot.

Overnights in your home start at $60.00/night. Usual hours are 8:30 pm to 6:30 am.

Holiday rates: an additional $5.00/day is charged New Year’s Eve and Day, Memorial weekend Friday-Monday, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and 3 days before and after, Christmas Day and 3 days before and after.

Extra services are available at $25.00/hour. We can provide extensive plant watering, lawn watering, errand running, waiting on furnace repairman, pet taxi service to take your pet to the vet or groomer.

Standard Procedures

Confirmation of dates and times of scheduled visits mail by email or phone.

Daily written notes detail your pet(s)’ appetite, elimination and behavior. We’ll let you know if Boomer is pouty faced or full of energy or if Fluffy is a scaredy cat. Knowledge and recognition of physical problems are crucial elements of providing competent pet care—notes are made regarding limps, increased urination, coughing, ear scratching, etc. In our last note, we remind you to call/email us as soon as you arrive home. If we don’t hear from you, we continue to make visits until you do arrive home, or until we walk in on you in the kitchen in your PJ’s having a bagel.

Emails from your pets or daily voice-mails offer more immediate feedback on your pet(s). If Fritzie is 14 years old with heart problems and arthritis, you may want email updates each visit while you’re away from home.

Dear People,

We’re eating, peeing and pooping. Did we mention napping. Haven’t hacked up any hairballs yet. Miss Maggie has learned our names, so wear don’t have to wear the stick on name tags. Maggie’s gonna bring us mice!! Dinner and play time combined, betcha hope we catch’em all! Just kidding.
